STATEMENT
"In my work, I want my viewer to experience the inherently fragmented nature of representation as a means of forcing recognition of the un-fixed nature of self. My practice merges the physical and the virtual, most commonly taking the form of installations, videos, design, storytelling, and sculpture. I am
interested in the mediated nature of experience in an increasingly
technological world. My most recent work examines the new yet
developing skills that come with an increased reliance on devices and gadgets. One of the central questions for me is how emerging technologies will shape human interaction.
I believe that medium and technologies serve as a vehicle towards concept. My work is influenced by an anthropological interest, resulting from uncertain feelings about being a part of a generation of makers to first-handedly
experience a technological and societal shift that is the consequence of global culture. It’s important my projects exist in an arena that is accessible and has the potential to influence our adaptation to digital media lifestyles - as this is something that is still developing. To achieve this, I often use subtle humor, irony or absurd narratives to act as practitioners toward commentary on
contemporary culture or to solve a problem. I use contradictions and opposites as devices, and frequently work with dichotomies such as perfection vs. imperfection, utopia vs. dystopia, past vs. present. "
